Cartridge remanufacturers fight 'clever chips' threat

Printer cartridge remanufacturers have warned that their industry faces meltdown if cartridges are excluded from regulations being drawn up to transpose the EU Directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment. Their inclusion would force printer manufacturers to stop the growing practice of inserting microchips into cartridges which make remanufacturing impossible or uneconomic.
