Impact of emissions trading on electricity prices is 'overstated'

Warnings about the impact of the EU emissions trading scheme on electricity prices and industrial competitiveness have been "exaggerated", according to environmental analysts Trucost.1 The Government has also released research which shows that it expects carbon prices to be low, and increases in electricity prices to be moderate.2
