Severn Trent Water is pioneering a sophisticated automated pollution monitoring system on the river Trent and is considering installing it at several more sites. SAMOS can rapidly detect herbicides at levels as low as one microgram per litre. Meanwhile, Yorkshire Water has developed a new UV spectrometry system.
