Electronics manufacturers are hoping that recyclers will find markets for appliance-derived plastic recyclate in time to enable them to meet the recycling targets set out in the EU Directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). But an incoming ban on the use of certain brominated flame retardants in new appliances means applications for plastic recyclate containing such substances will have to be found outside the electronics sector.
