Controversial proposals to allow BNFL to retain in the UK radioactive waste arising from the reprocessing of overseas customers' spent fuel have been floated by the Department for Trade and Industry. 1Meanwhile, the Environment Department is planning to revamp the arrangements for ensuring that new practices which cause exposure to radiation are justified..2
