A £100 million project to regenerate one of Britain's most problematic contaminated sites has been thrown into jeopardy by regulatory uncertainties surrounding the EU landfill Directive. The situation illustrates how late in the day the land remediation sector became engaged with issues relating to the Directive - and underlines the scale of the challenges which the industry now faces as the co-disposal ban draws near.
