New sewers may fail to prevent flooding or pollution because the water industry is using out-of-date information to predict extreme rainfall, a new study has concluded. The study not only points to potentially substantial costs to bring new sewerage schemes up to standard, but suggests that designs will have to alter radically to cope with the effects of climate change.
