An audit of hazardous waste treatment facilities by the Environment Agency and the Health and Safety Executive has revealed that many sites are failing to meet management and operational standards.1 The industry "does not give high enough priority to health and safety and environmental considerations", the report concludes, and expresses disappointment that "best practice criteria are not being universally met".
