Labour remains uncomfortable on environmental agenda

Environmental groups had hoped that Tony Blair’s commitment to champion the climate agenda on the international stage would pave the way for a more assertive programme in the Labour manifesto. In the event, neither Labour nor the Tories have made the environment a campaign issue, although both have substantial environmental packages on offer.
