New regime for sewage odours in Scottish water Act

An Act reforming the statutory foundations of Scotland’s water industry received Royal Assent on 17 March.1 Several environmental protection clauses were added as it passed through the Scottish Parliament, including new arrangements for controlling sewage odours and other nuisances, and provision for sustainable development duties to be imposed on new entrants to the industry.
