The Government accepts that Northern Ireland faces "very considerable challenges" in meeting the 2010 landfill diversion targets for biodegradable municipal waste, and the target to recover 25% of household waste by 2005/06, according to its response to last month’s report by the House of Commons Northern Ireland Affairs Committee.1
