Sugar pollution costs ‘leading distributor’ £7,500

A leading distribution company has had to pay over £9,000 after polluting a Ely stream with molasses. Appearing before Ely magistrates on 22 March, the Potter Group pleaded guilty to causing polluting matter to enter controlled waters contrary to section 85(1) of the Water Resources Act 1991. It was fined £7,500 with £1,625 costs.
