REMAS: The findings
The REMAS analysis tested four hypotheses: A positive relationship between the level of specification of a site’s EMS and the quality of its environmental management activities (EMAs). Well-managed sites are more likely to seek certification to high-specification EMS standards. A positive relationship between the quality of a site’s EMS and its performance in terms of emissions and process efficiency. Whether there is a positive or negative relationship between the quality of a site’s EMS and legislative compliance depending on the mechanism at work.
