Water industry queasy over bad press for sludge

Water companies are worried about recent press coverage claiming that spreading sludge on farmland could be a health risk. They are pressing the government to make a voluntary safety code mandatory. Meanwhile, the demand for sludge from farmers is at record levels due to high fertiliser prices.
