Start-up, shutdown dioxins less than normal operations
A report for the Environment Agency by consultants AEA has found that dioxin emissions from a UK waste incinerator during start-up and shutdown are less than ten times those during normal operating conditions.1 This contrasts with overseas studies showing significant emissions during start-up, shutdown and during abnormal conditions.
