Ofgem sets energy efficiency funds as Utilities Bill takes shape
The Government has promised that its Utilities Bill will provide a new framework to encourage energy efficiency in the gas and electricity markets and support renewable energy. Energy regulator Ofgem has also confirmed that it will extend electricity suppliers' energy efficiency schemes and apply similar obligations to gas suppliers - though the Energy Saving Trust and Environment Minister Michael Meacher had sought higher levels of funding.
