Audit Office finds flaws in landfill tax scheme
"Fundamental weaknesses" in the design and oversight of the landfill tax credits scheme have been identified by the National Audit Office (NAO) in a report which raises doubts about the ability of the scheme regulator, Entrust, to spot impropriety.1 Meanwhile, the latest figures show that contributions soared in 2000 - with public parks and amenities close to landfill sites the main beneficiaries.
