Domestic energy efficiency scheme leaves hole in climate change plan

 

Electricity and gas suppliers are to be given targets to promote improvements in household energy efficiency under a new scheme proposed in August.1 But the scheme will deliver much smaller reductions in emissions of carbon dioxide than originally envisaged, leaving a large hole in the Government's climate change programme.
