Appeal Court upholds Windsor's lorry ban precedent

The Appeal Court has upheld the legality of the Windsor Cordon which Berkshire County Council introduced in June 1978 to control lorry movements in the Windsor area (ENDS Report 22, pp 13-15). In a hearing on 25-26 June Lord Denning, Master of the Rolls, rejected an appeal by the Road Haulage Association, the National Farmers' Union and the Freight Transport Association (FTA) to overturn an earlier county court decision which had upheld the County Council's action.
