Southern Water fined

Southern Water was fined £11,000 on 27 June following when a sewer burst which polluted a Sussex lake. Ashford magistrates heard that a lake at Pluckley smelt of sewage and contained dead fish in June 2001. The Environment Agency traced the pollution to a broken rising main.
