DEFRA finally moves to tackle unlicensed, untaxed waste activities

Draft regulations to clamp down on land spreading of industrial wastes in England and Wales have at last emerged from the Environment Department, five years after an official review identified the need for them. The regulations will also tighten controls on many other waste management activities currently exempt from normal licensing. And they will introduce a range of new mobile plant licences, mainly for land remediation activities.
