Cancun collapse poses questions for role of WTO

A week-long meeting of 146 trade ministers in Cancun, Mexico, ended abruptly without a mandate on any of the controversial issues at stake. The failure of the talks has been greeted with relief by NGOs who feared anti-development, anti-environmental outcomes. They are now calling for governments to rethink the role of the World Trade Organisation in the global push for sustainable development.
