Survey points to inadequate contaminated land resources

Less than a third of English local authorities have allocated sufficient resources to fulfil a strategy to inspect their areas for contaminated land, according to the findings of a survey by the Environment Department (DEFRA).1 Half of them have staff resources on contaminated land amounting to less than one full-time equivalent post.
