'Lack of basic understanding' hinders efforts on particle pollution

Inadequacies in monitoring data make it difficult to develop robust strategies to reduce particulate air pollution, according to the Environment Department's Air Quality Expert Group (AQEG).1 The group confirms that air quality objectives will be missed without new policies, and calls for greater efforts to tackle industrial and agricultural emissions which produce "secondary" particles at the regional level.
