Health Department courts controversy over water fluoridation

Draft regulations setting out how local consultations should be held over proposals to fluoridate drinking water supplies in England were issued by the Department of Health at the end of July.1 The proposals are at odds with key statements previously made by Ministers to Parliament, and seem unlikely to alleviate concerns that the Department is intent on easing the way to widespread fluoridation in the face of public opposition.
