Thames appeals Crossness sewage odour notice

Fresh doubts about the effectiveness of statutory nuisance legislation in dealing with persistent odours from sewage treatment works were raised in July when Thames Water appealed against an abatement notice issued by the London Borough of Bexley. The notice is now suspended, despite being upheld by magistrates in a five-day court hearing in June.
