Industry initiative to develop NOx control technology for lorries

A consortium of twelve major European companies has confirmed plans to introduce a new technology to meet EU standards for NOx emissions from heavy duty vehicles. The technology will require lorry drivers to regularly recharge their engines with a urea additive - raising fears that without adequate enforcement the technology may lead to increased emissions from some vehicles.
