SEPA urges consumers to avoid phosphate-based detergents

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has upset detergent manufacturers by asking the public to help reduce water pollution by buying cleaning products containing little or no phosphate. Manufacturers claim that their products account for a tiny proportion of the problem - but product labels often fail to tell consumers how much phosphate they contain.
