'Gagging' row overshadows radioactivity report

The risks posed by the emission of certain radionuclides from nuclear installations could be "well over" ten times higher than previously thought, according to a committee set up to examine the risks posed by internal emitters.1 The implications for regulation of nuclear facilities have been overshadowed by former Environment Minister Michael Meacher's claim that the committee's chairman "gagged" two members who believe that the risks are considerably higher.
