DEFRA consults on unilateral ban on non-stick fluorinated compound

Proposals for a UK phase-out of perfluorooctane sulphonate (PFOS) - widely used in non-stick coatings until recently - have been set out by the Environment Department (DEFRA).1 The move, which also targets substances which break down to produce PFOS, is likely to herald a ban at EU level.
