DTI caps electricity charges to protect Scottish renewables

In a rebuff to energy regulator Ofgem, the Department of Trade and Industry is to impose a cap on electricity transmission charges for renewable power developments in remote parts of Scotland, where significant development is expected by 2010. Meanwhile, the first grid reinforcement project to accommodate Scottish renewables has run into opposition.
