EHOs' report shows upturn in noise and odour pollution

Signs of environmental improvement are few and far between in the latest annual report of the Institution of Environmental Health Officers (IEHO), with public complaints about noise and odour pollution reaching record levels and a reduction in local authorities' drinking water monitoring programmes during 1991/2. The report also provides the first estimates from local authority sources of the extent of contaminated land in England and Wales.1
