Quarry restoration under threat from PPC

The quarrying industry is facing a shortage of inert waste due to the "unnecessary and inappropriate" application of the pollution prevention and control (PPC) regime, according to the Quarry Products Association. The Environment Agency is requiring many quarries taking inert waste to be lined - a decision that will only succeed in diverting it to less controlled sites, the Association says.
