Oceans under threat from acid CO2, Royal Society warns
Steep cuts in carbon dioxide emissions are vital not only to slow global warming but also to stem the increasing acidity of the oceans, according to a report by the Royal Society.1 Increasing acidity will force changes in plankton and coral ecosystems, and threaten the role of the oceans in absorbing CO2.
