Shell fined £30,000 for groundwater pollution

Shell has been ordered to pay more than £35,000 in fines and costs after a Hertfordshire petrol station allowed 3,500 litres of fuel to leak into groundwater. The site was only 500 metres from a water supply borehole and the risks to drinking water are still being assessed.
