Brown chooses UK’s new chief scientist

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has chosen a fisheries management expert as the government’s chief scientist. John Beddington, professor of applied population biology at Imperial College, London, will replace Professor Sir David King, a chemist who steps down at the year end.
