PCB inventory shows a lingering legacy

A study of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in the UK environment has concluded that leaks from electrical equipment remain a major source of contamination - but the role of landfills requires further study.1 While PCB levels in soil have fallen by 94% in the last 20 years, levels in humans and animals are declining much more slowly.
