Lack of data makes dental mercury risk assessment ‘not possible’

European scientists say there is insufficient information to quantify environmental health risks posed by the use of mercury in dental fillings.1 Meanwhile, a UN-based working group has heard that dental use is often a front for international trade in the metal destined for use in hazardous and dispersive applications.2
