Pesticide producers to fight use reduction laws

British agrochemical producers have signalled that they will oppose the introduction of mandatory pesticide use reduction programmes in response to signs that the policy is gaining strength in Europe. EC experts will discuss the subject at a meeting in June. Meanwhile, wrangles are continuing over the pesticide levels which should be allowed in drinking water sources when active ingredients come up for approval under a new EC authorisation scheme.
