Westinghouse fined £15,000 for cyanide pollution

The engineering company Westinghouse Brake and Signal has been fined after a spillage of copper cyanide damaged a stream in Chippenham, Wiltshire. The firm has opted for a technical fix to prevent a recurrence, but a more effective approach might be improved housekeeping and staff training.
