"No convincing evidence" of death risk from Coalite dioxins, says HSE

A long-term study by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) of mortality among workers at Coalite Chemicals' works in Derbyshire has found "no convincing evidence" of an increased mortality risk from dioxin exposure.1 The study found higher than expected incidences of strokes and some cancers, but the significance of its results is limited by the small size of the exposed workforce.
