Northumbrian Water opts for major sludge drying project

Northumbrian Water has announced plans to build a £75 million drying plant on Teesside to process the region's sewage sludge. The plant will share a site with a major new sewage works and treatment centre for effluent from the chemical industry. A key feature of the company's marketing strategy is to make the dried product into a fuel rather than use it in agriculture or soil improvement.
