BHP Petroleum backs down in IPC gas terminal row
BHP Petroleum, developer of the £1.7 billion Liverpool Bay oil and gas project, has accepted the need to spend several million pounds to win an integrated pollution control (IPC) authorisation for its Point of Ayr gas terminal in North Wales. The project was thrown into jeopardy in June when HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP) rejected the firm's original application. BHP is now set to submit a new application in an effort to meet HMIP's concerns.
