Commission throws SO2 policy back in the melting pot

The European Commission has proposed that the 1988 Directive on large combustion plant should be replaced by a daughter of the new Directive on integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC). The Commission has also revived long-standing plans to limit the sulphur content of heavy fuel oil.
