Wave energy project hits the rocks

The installation of the world's first commercial offshore wave energy machine off the north coast of Scotland has been scuppered by serious damage to its ballast tanks. Applied Research & Technology (ART), the developer of the project, maintains that its Osprey design is capable of generating power at costs comparable to other renewables - and intends to build a replacement.
