Motorola leads take-back scheme for mobile phones

US electronics giant Motorola will shortly launch a pilot project with seven other companies to establish the feasibility of large-scale recovery of discarded mobile phones. The company hopes to persuade the European Commission and EC countries that firms with effective take-back schemes should escape legal requirements or product levies to take back used electronics equipment.
