New row over global warming impact of HFCs

Up to one-third of the global warming impact of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) is caused by emissions during manufacture, according to a leading producer of competing products.1 This factor has been ignored in many calculations of the total global warming impact of CFC substitutes, and the new claim looks set to put manufacturers and users of HFCs on the defensive.
