CBI wants voluntary action in place of EC carbon tax

Implementation of the proposed EC energy/carbon tax should be deferred at least until measures have been taken to remove the market barriers which inhibit energy efficiency, the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) told a House of Lords inquiry on 5 March. And it would be "absolutely vital" to exempt energy-intensive industries from the tax.
