The metals industry can expect to come under growing scrutiny as a potentially significant source of toxic organic micropollutants (TOMPs), according to a report by the Department of the Environment's Air Pollution Abatement Review Group (APARG).1 However, moves to abate releases outside the relatively well-regulated incineration sector are being hampered by a dearth of information on the costs and efficacy of available techniques.
