Rank Xerox: Towards waste-free products from waste-free factories

An award-winning quality programme helped Rank Xerox to weather the challenge of severe Japanese competition to its photocopier business in the mid-1980s - and it is now using a wide-ranging environmental programme to hone its competitive edge. Its equipment remanufacturing, design for environment and packaging minimisation initiatives are demonstrating how environmental and commercial objectives can complement each other - and further projects to achieve "waste-free" factories and offices and "green" its supply chain are now well under way.
